Engineering is an exacting task. Every stage from concept to design to construction and deployment requires constant monitoring and collaboration, requiring frequent visits by an engineer to the sub-contractor or the site. Issues are addressed and resolved - with changes typically being made on the copy of the drawing present.
Engineering firm policies always dictate that all changes be reflected on all copies of drawings but in practice, many minor 'Change Notes' are not made, or some changes may not reflect on copies with the engineering firm or to those with other contractors. This often leads to issues in billing and payments are sometimes held up because the appropriate process was not followed upon.

The contractor is chatting with the consultant on an issue; the consultant opens the AutoCAD drawing with Tandem SamePage. The two engineers feel this will impact the electrical installations as well. They call the electrical contractor who is in New York for the week, but happens to be by a computer so they invite him to the Tandem Conference; discussing issues they collectively propose and finalize changes - in about one half of an hour everyone is on the same page.
The "redlining" plugin creates a layer over the original drawing where changes made - the original drawing is never changed; 'Change Notes' can be created instantly and e-mailed to all pertinent players - accounting included.
